![]() Light done, and now everything in between. There is a variety of other products that can be used to achieve this. To create the smart light I used the Sonoff WiFi Switch that was retrofitted onto one of my existing desk lamps. To create a "nice feel" I decided to create a Revit Light that has the parameters I require, a Yes/No parameter for On/Off, this is the simplest task within the workflow. To start things off I had to have a Revit light to do what is needed. I realized quite quickly that my financial budget (nor my wife) will allow me to buy a Smart Coffee machine so I had to settle for a Smart Light. So the workflow explained, video at the bottom. Views and opinions expressed here is not necessarily the views and expressions of Modena AEC or affiliated partners. In addition, I work for Modena AEC and some products used is sold by them. This statement resonated with me especially the idea that I can hit a button in Revit and coffee will be made.Ī little disclaimer, I've set out to do this without having any professional coding as a background and the tools used should be free, this is also done with my current knowledge of software, visual programming and 3rd party software. This all started with the "sales pitch" of Modena AEC's general manager, Jay Moolman, where he always sells Autodesk Revit as software by stating that "Revit can do anything, even make you coffee". Recently I've challenged myself to create a few workflows with Revit that is outside the norm of it's purpose, being a 3D modelling BIM tool, and to see what can be done.
